At Family Dental Care of Gainesville, our welcoming policy makes it easy for new patients to feel comfortable and at ease. Here's what you can expect upon your first visit to our Gainesville, Texas, office:
It can be easy to forget when you scheduled a dental appointment but now we will remind you with an Appointment Reminder via email or text message. And if it's your first visit, we'll be happy to provide driving directions. Just click on the link below to let us know how you'd like to be contacted. We'll do the rest!
Release of Records Consent
Download the release of records consent form.
Rather than having new patients come in and immediately receive a cleaning and exam, we instead schedule an initial consultation with our dentist. This informal meeting gives you a chance to learn more about Family Dental Care of Gainesville, our dentist and the services we provide so you can decide if we're a good fit for you and your family. It also gives our dentist the opportunity to understand your oral health needs and how we can address them during future visits. If this meeting goes well, we invite you to schedule your first teeth cleaning and exam before you leave.
New Patient Paperwork
After your next appointment has been scheduled, our staff will ask that you complete our new patient paperwork. These forms simply ask for basic contact information and details about your dental and medical history. The more detailed you can be, the better care our dentist can provide. For this reason, we recommend downloading the forms at the following link and completing them at home prior to your appointment. If that's not an option for you, simply arrive 20 to 30 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment to provide ample time to complete those forms in our office.
Comprehensive Exam & Teeth Cleaning
When we have all your paperwork, our dentist will review it before proceeding with your exam and teeth cleaning. After this review, our dentist will begin by closely examining your teeth and gums, evaluating the current state of your oral health. Any signs of decay, damage, gum disease and other issues will be noted. Then the teeth cleaning will begin. This painless process removes plaque and tartar that build up in between visits and cause cavities and gum disease. Once your teeth are polished, our dentist will take digital x-rays of your teeth and jaw. These high-quality images will make any problems beneath the surface visible, such as root fractures, infections, bone loss and more.
After the exam, cleaning and x-rays are complete, our dentist will discuss the results with you. If any problems were found, our dentist will outline your treatment options and make recommendations based on your oral health needs and budget. Our staff can review the total treatment costs with you and help you determine insurance coverage and/or develop a payment plan. Our goal is to ensure all of our patients have access to much-needed dental care. If no issues were uncovered during your appointment, our dentist may simply recommend returning in another six months for your next checkup.
After your discussion with our dentist, our staff will work with you to set up any future appointments. We do our best to work within our patients' schedules and book these appointments at the most convenient times possible. Whether you need a crown within the next two weeks or simply need to schedule your next checkup six months from now, we will find a time that works best for you.
